MARION, N.C. (Aug. 22, 2016) – High-quality healthcare and reinvesting in facilities has earned McDowell Hospital a top rating from a national financial consulting firm.
The hospital is in the top 20 percent of all hospitals ranked by this year’s Cleverley + Associates Community Value Index Leadership Award.
The company designated it a “Five-Star Hospital.”
The Community Value Index components include:
- Financial viability and plant reinvestment
- Hospital cost structure
- Hospital charge structure
- Hospital quality performance
“This award recognizes that patients receive exceptional care close to home at McDowell Hospital,” said Carol Wolfenbarger, President of McDowell Hospital. “It also reflects the commitment we have to reinvesting in our community with a $45 million expansion that will offer state-of-the-art services to the McDowell County area.”
The expansion, a new 108,000 square-foot hospital and medical office building, is being built in front of the existing hospital. It will offer expanded emergency room services, family-friendly inpatient rooms and updated imaging equipment.
It is scheduled for completion in 2018.
