Transylvania Regional Hospital Now In-Network Provider with Aetna Insurance

Brevard, N.C. (Feb. 26, 2016) – Transylvania Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that the hospital is now an in-network provider for Aetna health insurance products.

“We have been working diligently for several years on behalf of patients in our community to obtain in-network status for our local hospital with Aetna,” said Cathy Landis, Transylvania Regional Hospital’s president and chief nursing officer. “We are now an in-network provider for Aetna’s most common insurance plans. Transylvania Regional Hospital strives to be the first choice for healthcare among patients in Transylvania County and surrounding communities. This in-network status with Aetna is a win for our community and our patients.”

On Jan. 1, 2016, Transylvania Regional Hospital became a participating provider with Aetna Health Inc. The hospital now participates in all Aetna commercial insurance products, with the exception of Aetna’s Non-Gated National Advantage Program. Aetna also has an existing contract in place for all of Transylvania Regional Hospital’s employed physicians and hospital-owned medical offices. The Aetna physician agreement includes participation in all of Aetna’s commercial products with the exception of the Non-Gated National Advantage Program. Patients with theses coverages have in-network benefits for all office visits to any of Transylvania Regional Hospital’s 10 medical practices.

At this time, Transylvania Regional Hospital will not participate in Aetna’s government programs such as Aetna Golden Medicare and Aetna Golden Choice Plan. Discussions are underway with Aetna with the hope of participation in these insurance products at a later date.
