Spruce Pine, N.C. (Jan. 29, 2016) – The Mauzy-Phillips Center at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital was recently named the Best New Medical Office Building/Outpatient Center in the 25,000 to 49,999 square foot category by Healthcare Real Estate Insights. The award was presented during the 2015 RealShare Healthcare Real Estate conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“It’s an honor for me to work and provide care to our community members in such an amazing, cutting-edge building. The Mauzy-Phillips Center provides our patients with an experience they have never had before. We’re able to offer a variety of specialty services and providers under one roof, such as a retail pharmacy, lab and radiology,” said Vicki Tolley, Clinical Supervisor, Mission Community Primary Care.
The design process behind the Mauzy-Phillips Center was highly collaborative and included Mission Health subject matter experts, patients and more than 40 people who now work in the building. Mission staff conducted research with healthcare leaders from across the nation such as the Mayo Clinic and Mercy Health to gain the best design ideas possible for the building from a patient and work flow perspective. Evidence-based principles from the Center for Health Design were also incorporated to help maximize the amount of natural light and natural surfaces in the building.
“The Mauzy-Phillips Center has become the new template for Medical Office Buildings across Mission Health, and its floorplan is used as the starting point for other projects in western North Carolina,” said Oscar Weinmeister, Vice President of Ambulatory Development, Mission Health.
The HREI Insights Awards are the only national awards dedicated entirely to recognition of excellence in the areas of healthcare real estate development and executive leadership. Awards were presented in nine different categories.
This marks the second year in a row that a Mission Health project has won this award. Last year, it was presented to Angel Cancer Center in the same category.
