ASHEVILLE, NC (March 5, 2018) – Jon Brown, Chief Information Officer for Mission Health, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review 2018 list of 105 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team accepted nominations and made their selections based on editorial research and discretion.
With more than 20 years of experience leading health information technology for academic and community health systems, Brown is responsible for implementing Mission Health’s IT strategic plan, enhancing clinical network integration, supporting Mission’s health informatics, and optimizing the electronic health record (EHR) to help ensure that the highest quality, safest care is delivered to all patients. During his tenure, Brown has implemented a shared EHR across Mission Health’s acute and ambulatory care locations, optimized the EHR for improved caregiver experience, and bolstered the system’s security through strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining Mission Health, Brown worked as the Director of IT Security at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, served as President of the North Carolina Health Information and Communication Alliance, and also served as Vice President for the North Carolina chapter of the Health Information Management System Society. Brown received his MBA, with concentrations in Healthcare and Information Technology, from the Wake Forest University School of Business.

According to Becker’s Hospital Review, the executives featured on the list not only lead organizations through healthcare’s technology revolution, they also oversee EHR installations, new patient portals, telemedicine advancements, and IT security. Additionally, the individuals have received recognition from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.
